We engage with public officials on policies that affect the university as well as track legislation on a wide variety of issues including student aid; government-funded research; academic medicine; and technology and innovation. Additionally, we are a resource and foster partnerships between government, community leaders and the university.
Local Relations
The Ohio State Local Relations team, led by Trudy Bartley, represents the University by building and maintaining relationships with the local community, local elected and appointed officials and their staff, and key community leaders. Activities include identifying emerging issues and legislation to Ohio State and local communities to recommend strategies and advocate the University's position.

State Relations
The Ohio State University State Relations team, led by Brian Perera, works to build and maintain productive relationships with state public officials and their staffs. The team works with members of the Governor's Office, other statewide elected officeholders, the Ohio General Assembly, and state agencies regarding legislative, regulatory, and budget actions impacting the University. Activities include identifying emerging issues and legislation to Ohio State and to recommend strategies and advocate the University's position.

Federal Relations
The Office of Federal Affairs, led by Stan Skocki, supports The Ohio State University through the pursuit of public policy outcomes that strategically benefit the University. Located in Washington, D.C., this office represents the University by building and maintaining relationships with federal policymakers. The Ohio State federal relations agenda includes advocacy efforts related to higher education issues as well as research. The Office of Federal Relations engages with Congress, the White House, and federal department and agencies.
In addition, the Office of Federal Relations is an active participant with national higher education associations, including the American Council on Education (ACE), the Association of American Universities (AAU), the Association of Public and Land-Grand Universities (APLU), the Council of Graduate Schools, The Science Coalition, the Energy Sciences Coalition, the Coalition for National Security Research, the Coalition for National Science Funding, and the AdHoc Tax Group.
